Bure Valley U8 Lionesses

Bure Valley U8 Lionesses played 2 games against Cromer this morning. The first game against their U8s.

The girls have been thinking lots about and working hard on their passing and moving into space. Today's game was perfect to put this into practice.

The first quarter saw us score 6 goals. Edie's determination and battling got our first of the match. She then scored her second after some great passing between Annabelle and Autumn. Next came 4 super finishes from Autumn and 4 equally brilliant assists from Annabelle. Betsy made great tackles when needed, and Ada kept her concentration in goal despite not having much to do.

The second quarter saw us continue our brilliant passing, and soon Autumn played an amazing pass out to the left for Lilah to finish brilliantly from distance, a great strike! Lilah then made a lovely assist for a great goal from Autumn. Martha made some great tackles and passes, and Annabelle, who was now playing at the back, continued to think about finding a good pass.

Quarter 3 and now playing against 7 Cromer players made it very crowded. However, some lovely footwork from Edie saw her score our 9th of the game. Martha then had 2 great shots, and Lilah's corners and crosses were excellent. Ada made 2 really good dives from 2 shots from Cromer, and Betsy made some good tackles and enjoyed a spell in midfield, too.

The final quarter saw 2 more goals for Edie. One for Annabelle (a great run a lovely long distance strike), one for Autumn, and an unfortunate own goal which came from another of Lilah's dangerous corners.

A fantastic team display today. Very proud!

Annabelle won parent's P.O.M. Her best game of the season, 4 amazing assists, a lovely goal and brilliant passing.
Lilah won my coach's medal for really trying to stay in space on the left, great passing, showing great strength, a super goal/assist and dangerous corners.
Autumn won Opposition P.O.M for her tremendous passing, a lovely assist, and 6 goals. She really thought about where to place the ball when shooting, too, some very thoughtful finishes.
Ada kept concentration the whole game in goal and made some great dives. Betsy made great tackles and always looked to close the ball down. A super performance in defence. Martha played very well out on the right and  made some lovely little passes, had 2 great shots, and made fab tackles. Finally, Edie's determination shone today, and she scored 5 goals.

Our second game was against Cromer U7s, with a couple of their U8s helping out.

The first quarter saw us start brightly. Martha made a great turn and run. Betsy found lovely space, and Clara made some lovely tackles. Anabel was playing confidently in goal and very quick to come out and grab the ball. Betsy then had a great shot. Clara then made a great run and Jasmine made several great tackles at the back. Just before the end of the quarter, Cromer scored, but the girls kept their heads up and continued to work hard.

Quarter 2 started with a great cross from Martha to Ada, whose shot was saved. Jasmine made more tackles at the back. At the end of the  first quarter I had asked Anabel to roll the ball out quicker from in goal so our players didn't get marked and for our outfield players to be quick at finding space for us. Anabel did this brilliantly for the rest of the game. Once in particular to Ada (who quickly found space) who passed through to Martha, who had a super shot.
Clara then made another great run and played the ball to Martha, who fired the ball into the back of the net to equalise.

Quarter 3 saw some more great passing between Ada and Martha. Betsy had a brilliant long-distance shot, and Ada hit the post. Jasmine continued her great defending and Betsy continued to work hard in midfield.

It was a very close game with both teams working hard, but Clara's amazing runs she had made all the game were rewarded when she scored the winning goal in the final quarter.

Clara won parent's P.O.M. for all her runs with the ball, tackles and scoring the winning goal. Martha won opposition P.O.M for working so hard, so many runs forward with the ball, lots of passes and tackles and a great goal. Ada won my coach's medal for commanding the centre of midfield. Lovely passing, tackles and runs. Betsy enjoyed playing in midfield and found great space, was strong in the tackle and had a couple of great shots. Anabel was quick off her line in goal, and her distribution to her team was great. Some good saves, too. Finally Jasmine had a great game as main defender making so many brilliant tackles!

A great team performance
