Early Christmas present for Wolves
Santa came early for the Wolves at home to our bogey team Taverham Lionesses with a 6-0 win!
We’ve played really well this season and been competitive in every game bar one, and haven’t quite had the rub of the green at times, but everything clicked today and we were superb.
We started with Leia in goal, Emily, Anya and India in defence, Paige, Ellie and Billi in midfield, Katie and Rose up front and Maya and Phoebe on the bench.
We dominated the first half but couldn’t quite score, the keeper made some good saves and we flashed some wide - especially from Anya’s always dangerous corners, before PHOEBE put us one up from a corner with a left foot volley just before half time!
In the second half we went further ahead when ROSE tucked home after Anya’s corner was blocked on the line.
Taverham then scored an own goal when the defender sliced the ball over the keeper.
PHOEBE scored her second, following in an Ellie long throw to place it past the goalie.
Billi then had a lovely run in midfield driving forwards, before playing the ball to Rose who took a touch before playing KATIE in in the centre of goal - her shot was blocked by the defender but she followed in to smash past the keeper!
Our sixth saw Phoebe play a lovely pass to KATIE who did a lovely turn and smashed it home from the edge of the area
It really was a fantastic team performance today, we always looked dangerous going forwards, but we also looked really solid at the back and contained taverhams lively forwards and academy no. 10 really well, and Leia was always alive to danger and off her line really quickly (as always!)
Opposition player went to Leia, parents player went to the whole team for a brilliant performance, and despite calling out Rose and Phoebe for fantastic performances, coaches player went to Anya who swept up brilliantly and got two assists from corners.
Thanks to our brilliant parents for helping to put the goals away, run the line, make cakes, record videos and generally be supportive and fantastic.
